Embryo Transfer (ET) Program

We established our embryo transfer program to achieve two goals:

  1. Provide a means to maintain the consistency and continuity of our herd for the next 10-15 years.
  2. Incorporate and blend the proven genetics within the Hereford breed into our herd.

To this end, we are mating our Feltons Donor Dams with Feltons Sires primarily to maintain the genetic excellence Frank Felton achieved during his lifetime. He truly bred with vision, planning and foresight and we hope to continue his legacy.

We are incorporating the Remitall genetics into our herd through the Remitall Boomer 46B son, PW Victor Boomer P606. We are using him not only as an AI sire, but also breeding him to selected donor dams. His curve bending EPD's are only the beginning of the value he brings to our herd. We selected him over all of the Remitall sires primarily for two reasons:

  1. His birth weight and Calving Ease Direct EPD.
  2. His outstanding female progeny we have evaluated.

We have purchased several embryos that match up some of the outstanding dams in the breed with some of the proven herd sires. At the Ft. Worth Stock Show, we purchased embryos from one of the great dams from JJR Polled Herefords bred to CS BOOMER 29F. In May, we were so impressed with the DeShazer Cattle Co's 20X son, RT DCC 20X KEY MASTER 125L, that we not only bought embryos sired by him, but also an outstanding young dam bred back to him. All of his progeny that we viewed were outstanding!

We hope to calve a minimum of 5-10 embryo calves each year to continually upgrade our young herd. We flush our donor cows 3 times every other year and allow them to calve naturally in alternate years. In 2005, we are planning on adding our PMK WYE ELLIE cow (P42037114) to our Donor List. She is a pigmented medium frame dam born in 2000 and had an outstanding bull calf last September that was the high selling calf at the Northeast Texas Hereford Association Sale this spring. She is bred back to Star Embracer 154L and will calve 11-11-04 . We will flush her in 2005 and move her to our 1-15 to 3-31 calving season in 2006.

If you would be interested in a particular pairing from any of our great donor cows, just let us know.
